WIWU-TV (Marion, IN) will broadcast the Marion segment of the Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay live on local television on Wednesday, September 28, beginning at 2 p.m.
The Torch Relay began September 9 in Harrison County and will wind its way through the state through mid-October. The Grant County leg starts at 12:30 p.m. on September 28 as the torch enters from the southeast near Upland, goes through Gas City and Marion before proceeding north to Wabash. At key junctures along the way, prominent Grant County citizens or their representatives will have the honor of carrying the torch.
As the parade approaches downtown Marion, WIWU-TV will feature coverage of the scene live on local television channel 51.1 digital/Brighthouse 23 and streaming on wiwutv.com. Crossroads host Randall King and City of Marion Marketing Director Layla Price will anchor the live coverage, with video highlights from the relay’s stops, interviews and the handoff at the courthouse square by Mayor Jess Alumbaugh to longtime Marion resident Pearl Bassett.
